"Thank you again for making it such an amazing trip. It was so much more than a cooking course - it was a sensory experience of note, with a cultural and history tour included - so much more than what I bargained for."

Hiking, Feasting Artisan Tour

Dates for 2010 : April 11-17, September 19-25

Provence is an amazing land to hike. So many different vistas within such a short distance of Avignon: Ochre hills, scrub brush, vineyards, the scraggly cliffs of the sea coast. Let me share my favorite haunts and out of the way spots with you.

a friendly goat During this week I will take you out on three hikes, to a local market (or two) and to visit the souls of this land, the artisans.

You'll learn about wine, tasting alongside the vintner and explore his (or her) winery before sitting down to a picnic amidst the vineyards. You'll watch and should you wish, put your hands to goat cheese making. You'll enjoy the exquisite choreography of the back room at the bakery, tasting fresh breads and brioches as they come out of the stone oven, perhaps making some of your own.

picking grapes. Because the foods of Provence are so good, and so important to all of us who live and visit here, I will bring you to three cooking classes and three different restaurants to sample the range and possibilities of this region.

One day you'll cook alongside a food historian, passionate for his region. Another day it will be the beekeeper, mistress of her favorite ingredient and creative in its use. Another day a chic and elegant experience with one of the top chef-patissiers of the area, in a unique setting.

With full accommodations for 6 nights, arriving Sunday evening, departure Saturday after breakfast. All meals but one lunch (market day) included.
